The Sancho Panza Non Plus is a petit corona measuring 129 mm with a 42 ring gauge, wrapped in a decent though slightly veiny colorado leaf. The band remains rather old-fashioned.
At cold draw, it offers scents of damp wood and gentle spices, with a slightly tight draw.
The first third lights smoothly, revealing roasted dried fruit. Its body is restrained but quickly asserts itself. Combustion is flawless, and the draw remains good.
In the second third, spicy and fine wood notes emerge, carried by steady strength and a subtly piquant smoke. Touches of cocoa appear, with bitterness better controlled than in previous years.
The final third deepens into a progressively stronger bitter cocoa, while combustion stays very consistent. The finish is sharp, though burdened with excess bitterness.
Conclusion: While this petit corona regains some ground lost last season, its austere nature keeps it just shy of a four-ring rating. It boasts an attractive price but suffers from very limited availability.
