Vegueros

Vegueros was introduced to the international market in 1996 as a tribute to the generations of vegueros—tobacco farmers of Pinar del Río, Cuba’s famed growing region. Prior to export, these locally rolled cigars had long been enjoyed at national festivals and public events, earning a reputation among visitors touring the tobacco fields.

The brand is produced at the historic Francisco Donatién factory in Pinar del Río, a stone building erected in 1868 and converted to cigar production in 1961. All vitolas are crafted Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga (completely handmade with long filler) from carefully selected leaves grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Evolution of the Line

• 1996 / 1997 – Domestic cigars begin export under the Vegueros name, delivering a bold, full-flavored profile.
• 2012 – Original vitolas are retired, making way for a refreshed portfolio.
• 2013 – Relaunch with modern branding and three new medium-strength formats: Entretiempos (52 × 110 mm), Tapados (46 × 120 mm), and Mañanitas (46 × 100 mm) sold in 16-count metal tins.
• 2018 – Introduction of Centrofinos (50 × 130 mm), expanding the lineup with a contemporary, accessible ring gauge.

Today, Vegueros offers an approachable medium to full flavor—less intense than its original release but retaining the earthy character prized by aficionados. Classified by Habanos S.A. as a Volume Portfolio brand, Vegueros provides authentic Vuelta Abajo quality at a more affordable price point.
