Launched in 1999, San Cristóbal de La Habana was created to honor the rich legacy of Cuba’s capital. Its name recalls the original 16th-century title of Havana—San Cristóbal, in honor of Saint Christopher. Though young by Cuban standards, the brand carries centuries of heritage in spirit and style.
The original vitolas—each named after colonial fortresses—include enduring classics like El Príncipe, a compact treasure; the hearty and smooth La Fuerza; and the tapered elegance of La Punta. More recently, special releases like the San Cristóbal de La Habana 1519 have elevated the brand’s appeal among collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Crafted Totalmente a Mano with Tripa Larga, each cigar uses the finest tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region. The blend is smooth to medium-bodied, offering balance, subtle complexity, and a beautifully aromatic finish.
San Cristóbal de La Habana is a modern classic—elegant, storied, and full of Havana’s quiet grandeur.
San Cristóbal de La Habana is a comparatively young Habano marque, officially launched on 20 November 1999 to commemorate the long history of Cuba’s capital. Its name echoes the city’s original 16th-century title—San Cristóbal (for Saint Christopher) de La Habana. A pre-Revolution cigar bearing a similar name once existed, but the current brand is entirely unrelated to that earlier label.
The brand opened with four vitolas—El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta, and El Príncipe—all named after the colonial fortresses that protected Havana. To mark its fifth anniversary in 2004, three additional sizes were introduced: Mercaderes, Oficios, and Murallas. These cigars carry a secondary La Casa del Habano band because they are sold exclusively through La Casa del Habano boutiques.
Every San Cristóbal vitola is Totalmente a Mano with Tripa Larga, using carefully selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region. The blend delivers a refined profile ranging from smooth to medium strength, well-balanced and aromatic—ideal for those who appreciate nuanced flavors.
Originally positioned as a niche release, San Cristóbal is now listed by Habanos S.A. in the portfolio’s “Other Brands” category. Although production remains limited, its historical inspiration and elegant flavor have secured a loyal following among aficionados.
