La Gloria Cubana

La Gloria Cubana: Subtle Elegance, Quiet Prestige

Founded in 1885, La Gloria Cubana is one of Cuba’s hidden treasures—quietly refined, steeped in history, and admired by those who seek something off the beaten path. After changing hands and finding a long-term home at the Partagás factory, the brand was revived in 1965 for a more discerning audience.

Produced in limited quantities, each cigar is made Totally by Hand with Long Filler, using select tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region. The result is a balanced, medium-bodied profile known for its subtle complexity and elegant aroma.

Among the most admired vitolas are the Médaille d’Or No.4, slender and refined; the flavorful Turquinos; the bold yet balanced Glorias; and the celebratory 35 Aniversario, crafted for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

La Gloria Cubana is a brand for those who know. Quiet confidence, Cuban soul.

La Gloria Cubana CIGAR BRAND

La Gloria Cubana is a lesser-known jewel in the Habanos S.A. portfolio, founded in 1885 by Sociedad Cabañas y Castro. In 1905 the marque was acquired by José F. Rocha, who produced the cigars at his Havana factory until his death in 1954. That year both La Gloria Cubana and the Bolivar brand were sold to the Cifuentes family and production moved to the legendary Partagás factory, where it remains today.

Although export-oriented, the brand went dormant for several years after the Revolution and did not reappear until 1965, when Partagás revived it for discerning connoisseurs. Even now La Gloria Cubana is made in relatively small quantities, which only adds to its allure among experienced smokers.

The line is renowned for its elegant presentation—especially the Médaille d’Or series, highlighted by the prized Médaille d’Or No. 2 and the uniquely sized Médaille d’Or No. 22.

All vitolas are produced Totally by Hand with Long Filler, using carefully selected filler and binder leaves from the premium Vuelta Abajo region. The balanced blend delivers a refined medium strength with nuanced aromas, making La Gloria Cubana a favorite of knowledgeable aficionados despite its small market share.

Within the current Habanos S.A. portfolio the marque is listed under the “Other Brands” category (classified as a local brand prior to 2019). A non-Cuban line bearing the same name also exists, but the Cuban production remains the benchmark.
