Established in the 1870s by Juan López Sena, Juan López cigars reflect the timeless craft of Cuban cigar making. Once known as Flor de Juan López, the brand evolved through generations, surviving revolutions and transitions with its legacy intact. Today, it is handmade at the historic La Habana factory, honoring over a century of tradition.
Though not as widely known as some of Cuba’s major marques, Juan López holds a loyal following among those who value understated elegance and reliable performance. Its cigars are crafted with long filler from the Vuelta Abajo region, delivering a medium to full-bodied profile that is balanced, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.
Highlights include the well-rounded Selección No.1, the beloved Selección No.2—a benchmark of the brand—and the refined Selección Especial, introduced for special occasions and already a favorite among aficionados.
Juan López remains a quiet classic—never loud, always authentic.
Juan López is a traditional Cuban cigar brand, established in the 1870s by Juan López Sena, also known as Juan López Díaz. Originally produced in Havana on Calle de los Dragones, the brand was passed on to his heirs in 1908 and later sold in 1918 to Sociedad Cosme Del Peso y Cía, who managed it until the Cuban Revolution. Initially known as Flor de Juan López, the brand eventually reverted to its original name through various transitions.
Following the Revolution, the Cuban government nationalized the cigar industry and retained the factory where Juan López cigars were produced. Today, all Juan López cigars are handmade at the La Habana factory in Havana, continuing the legacy of one of Cuba’s historic brands.
Though it is not among the most widely recognized brands, Juan López enjoys a loyal following among enthusiasts. Selección No.1 and especially Selección No.2 make up the core of its vitola offering, known for their balance, character, and reliable performance.
Every Juan López vitola is made Totally by Hand with Long Filler, using carefully selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region. The blend offers a consistent flavor profile in the medium to full strength range—an excellent choice for those seeking classic Cuban craftsmanship with understated elegance.
Within the Habanos S.A. portfolio, Juan López is categorized in the “Other Brands” marketing category. Under the pre-2019 classification system, it was considered a Local Brand. While it maintains a small market share, it is a frequent and popular selection for Regional Edition releases.
