Cuaba

Rediscover the Art of the Figurado with Cuaba

Cuaba cigars are a tribute to tradition, crafted entirely in the elegant doble figurado shape—a nod to the 19th-century style once lost to time. Each cigar is a sculpture in tobacco, showcasing the peak of a Torcedor’s craftsmanship and worthy of any true aficionado’s collection.

Launched in London in 1996, Cuaba revived the classic British love for figurados, blending history with Havana’s finest leaves. Its name, “Cuaba,” comes from the Taíno word for a flammable bush once used to light cohibas—an homage to tobacco’s indigenous roots.

From the compact Divino to the stately Salomón, each Cuaba vitola delivers a smooth, balanced flavor profile, often compared to Romeo y Julieta—rich in nuance, never overpowering. Medium to full in strength, Cuaba is elegance wrapped in tradition.

Handmade with long filler from Vuelta Abajo’s finest, Cuaba offers not just a cigar, but an experience from another era—where shape, history, and flavor unite.

Cuaba CIGAR BRAND

All Habanos from the Cuaba brand feature the distinctive shape known as the doble figurado. This brand revives the cigar style that was popular in the 19th century, when doble figurados were fashionable. Because of the complexity involved in crafting them, these cigars are considered the pinnacle of the Torcedor’s art—making them a worthy addition to any serious aficionado’s humidor.

The Cuaba brand was first launched in London in 1996, marking the first new Cuban cigar brand to enter commercial production since 1968. The launch location was no coincidence—Habanos S.A. sought to revive the classic British tradition of figurado cigars, which had nearly disappeared by the early 20th century. In doing so, Cuaba helped reintroduce not only a brand but a historical shape and smoking experience.

Historically, “Cuaba” is a Taíno word that referred to a highly flammable Cuban bush used to light cohibas—the original term for rolled tobacco. Like Cohiba, the name pays tribute to the indigenous roots of tobacco culture in Cuba.

In its early years, Cuaba offered only relatively small vitolas. Since 2003, larger formats have been added, including the Distinguido, Salomón, and Diadema. Cuaba’s core vitolas—Exclusivo, Generoso, Tradicional, and Divino—are all presented in perfect figurado shapes. Flavor-wise, Cuaba cigars are often compared to Romeo y Julieta: smooth, balanced, and rich with nuance, yet never overpowering in any single characteristic.

All Cuaba vitolas are made Totally by Hand with Long Filler, using filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region—home to Cuba’s most prized tobacco.
